Something about Susan Kaye
This is a painting by the artist William Whitaker and I like earnest feel of the girl. Not having a photo of myself that I'd show anybody, I thought it a nice touch.

Anyway, I started writing over five years ago and haven't looked back. It has been quite a personal journey. Aside from my marriage and my two children, all of which involve other human being who demand attention, writing is the first thing I have ever started and sustained that is fully mine.

To the left are a listing of my stories. I began writing fanfiction. Fanfiction is a genre in which you take characters created by another; in my case, Jane Austen; and write missing parts of stories, or write entirely new scenarios. I've done both, and while fanfiction is a good way to begin writing, you are never the creator of your primary characters and that can be disappointing after a time. I still dabble a bit, but I am pursuing publishing and that takes time. What else am I going to do?

If you are familiar with Jane Austen's Persuasion, The Quartet is a series of four stories which faithfully follow the reunion of Captain Frederick Wentworth and Anne Elliot. the following story, Love Suffers Long and Is Kind, is a cooperative effort along with a fellow fanfictionist (is that a word?). We took the story in a direction only hinted at by Jane. It was an enjoyable three years. There are also a couple of short, What Ifs that I scribbled at odd times. I hope you enjoy them. ~SK~
