Plymouth "Instead of staying in Lyme, he went
off to Plymouth..." Admiral Croft tells Anne Elliot that they've
seen nothing of Frederick since November. She already knows
that Louisa Musgrove is set to marry James Benwick, but does that
mean he will return to her? This was my first fan
fiction story. After reading Persuasion, all I could wonder what
was, "what did he do those three days?" Here's what I came up
with.

A
Brother Is Born For Adversity is the story of
Wentworth's six weeks in Shropshire with his brother. Edward
Wentworth was out of Frederick's life until their parents died when
he was 12. Edward returned to save Sophia and Frederick from
uncertainty, at the cost of his own independence. Twenty years
later, Frederick seeks refuge with Edward, the rector of his own
parish, and a newlywed. With his brother happy and his own future
out of his hands, Frederick learns some valuable lessons about life
and love.

For You Alone is a first person
accounting of Frederick Wentworth's ten-day campaign to make things
right with Anne Elliot.
|
| The Knowledge of His Being There is a
series of vignettes leading up to the wedding day of Captain
Frederick Wentworth and Anne Elliot. |
The Villain's
Part is a stand alone short
story involving William Walter Elliot, Anne Wentworth and a family
memento.

If
I Had Then Written is also a stand alone, apistolary. How might things have
things been different if Wentworth had written Anne just
after being promoted to the Laconia?

When I Dream, I Have
You ~ The story of Persuasion is predicated on the
once engaged Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth meeting after a
separation of nearly nine years. In this time both have changed a
great deal. She has learnt that love is not as easily had as she
thought when she was 19, and he has gotten the money and success he
hungered after as a younger man. When they meet
again, there is still much pride and misunderstanding to overcome
before all is set to right.
But what would happen if
the second meeting was postponed by just a few months?
In the original story,
Frederick says to Anne that time makes many changes, and
in this piece I explore just how many changes just a
little time can make.

The
Little Particulars of The Circumstance ~ One of my favorite scenes
in Persuasion is when Frederick Wentworth goes
to the Uppercross Cottage looking for Louisa and Henrietta. He finds
himself Anne Elliot as she cares for little Charles. In the
original, Frederick rescues her from the onerous little Walter, and
not much more. In this version, Mr Roberts, the apothecary, declares
a quarantine! This story combines a little bit of "Outbreak!" with a
lot of "It Happened One Night." Happy ending included at no
charge.

Pleasant
Days ~ Pleasant Days takes place
two years after Frederick Wentworth and Anne Elliot's broken
engagement. While sailing to Ireland to visit family, the Elliots
encounter smugglers. It would seem that Frederick Wentworth has
changed professions in hopes of gaining fortune more quickly than
possible in the Royal Navy. But Anne begins to question this
assumption when she must depend upon his skill and cunning to keep
her alive on the rugged Irish coast. (This story is ongoing and not
yet
finished.)

Love
Suffer Long and Is Kind is an alternate
Persuasion piece, co-written with my good friend,
Laura Louisa, in which Frederick Wentworth marries Louisa
Musgrove and Anne Elliot marries James Benwick. Decide for yourself
if this pairing might not be more to your
liking.
